Dye Work - Love and Information

Design Concept & Execution

For the production Love and Information at Carnegie Mellon University, I was asked by the Costume Designer, Grace Kang, to dye a series of garments that would coordinate with the color progression of the show. Garments and pieces that were dyed, painted, or distressed had to stay true in natural and artificial lighting, as well as heavily projected scenes. Starting in the world of neutrals, some of the character's base pieces were color shifted and neutralized so previously bought and pulled items could be paired with other garments. As the show's color palette became brighter, small details like socks, shoes, and laces were also dyed and distressed to support the subtle color world of the show.
